   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to completely shut down the device. Do not attempt to charge a water-damaged phone.

   Eject SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the left edge of the phone. Push inward firmly to pop out the tray and remove it.

   Unclip rear plastic cover

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the screen assembly and the back cover near the SIM slot. Slide the pick around the perimeter to release the plastic clips.

   Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex cable

   Slightly lift the back cover, taking care not to strain the attached ribbon cable. Use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press-connector off the motherboard.

   Unscrew upper motherboard bracket

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic motherboard frame. Keep the screws organized for reassembly.

   Remove motherboard bracket

   Gently pry up and lift the plastic bracket off the upper section of the phone frame.

   Disconnect battery cable

   Insert the flat end of a plastic spudger under the battery connector and lever it straight up to disconnect power.

   Unscrew lower speaker assembly

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker housing to the frame.

   Remove loudspeaker housing

   Pry the bottom speaker enclosure up from the frame and set it aside.

    Disconnect display and sub-board cables

    Use your plastic spudger to disconnect the main interconnect flex cable and the display flex cable from the main motherboard.

    Remove main motherboard

    Disconnect any remaining coaxial antenna cables, then carefully lift the logic board out of the phone body.

    Remove charging port daughterboard

    Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable from the bottom sub-board and lift the sub-board out of the lower chassis.

    Scrub boards with isopropyl alcohol

    Dip a soft-bristled brush in 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub all visible liquid damage, mineral deposits, and corrosion from both circuit boards.

    Dry logic boards

    Wipe away remaining residue with a lint-free microfiber cloth and let the boards dry completely in a well-ventilated area.

    Reinstall logic boards and reconnect cables

    Place the main motherboard and sub-board back into the housing, then reconnect all flex cables and antenna wires securely.

    Reattach covers and SIM tray

    Screw the speaker module and motherboard bracket back on, reconnect the fingerprint sensor, snap the back cover into place, and reinsert the SIM tray.
