   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to shut down the phone completely.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone and push firmly to pop out the tray.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Apply a heated iOpener or hair dryer around the outer perimeter of the back cover for two minutes to soften internal adhesive.

   Insert an opening pick

   Wedge a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the plastic back cover and the display frame near the bottom edge.

   Slice the perimeter clips

   Slide the plastic pick along the sides and top edges to release all internal retaining clips holding the back cover.

   Hinge open the back cover

   Carefully lift the left edge of the back cover open like a book, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor cable.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Use the pointed end of a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press connector straight up off the motherboard.

   Remove motherboard cover screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 11 screws securing the top plastic motherboard shield.

   Detach the motherboard cover

   Insert a spudger beneath the plastic motherboard cover and lift it free from the chassis.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery connector press joint straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Use a spudger to detach the main ribbon cable routed over the battery to clear your workspace.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Drip a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to weaken the factory adhesive.

    Pry up the old battery

    Insert a flat plastic card underneath the battery and gradually lift upward until the adhesive releases completely.

    Clean the battery well

    Wipe away residual adhesive and debris from the battery housing using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Place double-sided battery adhesive strips into the empty housing bay and peel off the protective backing film.

    Install the replacement battery

    Lower the new battery into the phone housing and press down evenly across the surface to seat it onto the adhesive.

    Reconnect the main interconnect cable

    Align and press the ribbon flex connector back onto the motherboard header until it clicks into position.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Press the battery flex cable directly onto its motherboard terminal to re-establish electrical contact.

    Reinstall the motherboard cover

    Set the plastic motherboard shield into place and press around the perimeter until all clips snap firmly.

    Secure motherboard screws

    Reinstall the 11 Phillips #00 screws into the motherboard cover until snug.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor flex

    Hold the back cover near the phone body and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector into its socket.

    Snap the rear cover back on

    Align the rear cover with the chassis and squeeze along all edges to snap the plastic clips back into place.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left side of the device until flush.
