Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to completely turn off the device.

Remove SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the upper left side of the phone to eject the tray.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPry a plastic opening pick into the seam between the rear cover and the screen bezel near the SIM slot.

Unclip Back Cover
3 minSlide the pick around the perimeter of the phone to release the plastic clips securing the rear panel.

Lift Back Cover Carefully
2 minGently lift the rear cover off, taking care not to strain the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew Motherboard Cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the black plastic motherboard shield in place.

Remove Motherboard Cover
1 minLift the plastic motherboard shield up and away from the phone frame.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
1 minUse a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex cable straight up off its motherboard terminal.

Disconnect Battery Press Connector
1 minPry the battery flex cable directly up from the motherboard to cut power to the device.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to weaken the glue.

Pull Battery Tab
3 minGrasp the clear plastic pull tab on the battery and pull steadily upward at a shallow angle.

Pry Out Old Battery
2 minInsert a plastic card under the battery to break remaining adhesive and lift it out of the housing.

Clean Battery Compartment
2 minWipe away residual adhesive from the frame recess using a cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply New Adhesive Strips
2 minLay fresh double-sided battery adhesive strips into the battery well and peel off the protective backing.

Position Replacement Battery
1 minAlign the new battery into the compartment and press down firmly to set it in place.

Attach Battery Connector
1 minAlign the battery flex connector over its motherboard socket and press firmly until it snaps into place.

Reconnect Fingerprint Flex
