Step-by-step

Turn Off Device
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Remove Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the notch near the Micro-USB port at the bottom edge. Pry the rear shell away from the phone until all clips release.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or small paperclip into the hole beside the SIM tray. Press firmly to pop out the tray, then pull it completely out.

Unscrew Rear Midframe
3 minUse a T3 Torx screwdriver to remove the 14 screws securing the inner plastic midframe to the main body.

Pry Off Rear Midframe
2 minInsert a plastic spudger into the seam between the midframe and the front bezel. Pry around the perimeter to release the snap joints and lift off the midframe.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minLocate the battery flex connector near the top right corner of the motherboard. Use a spudger to pry the connector straight up off its socket.

Remove Battery
2 minInsert a flat opening pick underneath the left edge of the battery. Carefully pry upward to break the adhesive bond holding the battery in place.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minLocate the wide display flex connector on the lower portion of the motherboard. Pry it straight upward with a spudger to disconnect it.

Unlock Power Button Flex ZIF Connector
1 minUse tweezers or a spudger to flip up the thin zero-insertion-force (ZIF) locking flap on the side button connector. Carefully pull the flex cable out.

Remove Motherboard
2 minGently lift the lower end of the motherboard out of the front housing assembly. Set it aside on an anti-static mat.

Remove Earpiece Speaker
1 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the earpiece speaker out of its recessed notch at the top of the frame.

Remove Vibration Motor
1 minInsert tweezers underneath the circular vibration motor near the upper frame edge. Pry upward gently to release its light adhesive tape.

Heat Front Screen Edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer on a low setting around the perimeter of the screen for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup to Glass
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the front display glass and press down firmly to seal it.

Slice Screen Adhesive
3 minPull up gently on the suction cup while inserting an opening pick between the glass and outer frame. Slide the pick around all four edges to cut through the adhesive.

Separate Damaged Screen
2 minLift the front display assembly away from the frame, carefully guiding the display flex cable through the slot in the midframe.

Clean Frame Residue
3 minScrape remaining adhesive off the bezel using a spudger. Wipe the outer frame ledge clean with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply Pre-Cut Adhesive Strips
3 minPosition fresh pre-cut adhesive strips along the interior perimeter of the plastic front frame. Press down firmly, then remove the protective backing film.

Mount New Display Assembly
2 minThread the flex cable of the new screen through the frame slot. Align the new glass accurately within the bezel and press firmly around all edges.

Reinstall Earpiece Speaker and Motor
2 minPress the earpiece speaker and vibration motor back into their respective slots at the top of the frame assembly.

Reinstall Motherboard and Connectors
3 minLower the motherboard into place over the frame. Reconnect the display cable press connector and slide the power flex cable into its ZIF lock.

Reinstall Battery and Midframe
3 minPress the battery back into its compartment and snap the battery connector into place. Snap the rear plastic midframe onto the body and reinstall the 14 T3 Torx screws.

Reattach Back Cover
1 minReinsert the SIM card tray, align the rear outer cover with the body, and press around the edges until all clips snap firmly closed.
