   Turn off the phone

   Power down your Motorola Moto G 5G completely before starting any disassembly.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole next to the SIM tray and remove it.

   Heat the back panel

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the back cover edges for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

   Slice the back panel adhesive

   Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull gently, and insert a plastic opening pick between the back panel and frame.

   Remove the back cover

   Slide the pick around all edges to cut through the remaining adhesive, then lift off the back cover.

   Unscrew the motherboard bracket

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper motherboard shield to the frame.

   Detach the motherboard shield

   Use a spudger to gently lift and remove the plastic motherboard shield from the phone.

   Disconnect the battery flex

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery flex cable from the main board.

   Disconnect the display cable

   Locate and disconnect the display flex cable press-connector from the motherboard using a spudger.

    Unscrew the lower speaker module

    Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly in place.

    Remove the loudspeaker module

    Pry up gently with a spudger to detach and remove the loudspeaker module from the chassis.

    Heat the front display panel

    Apply heat evenly across the front screen edges for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

    Pry off the damaged screen

    Attach a suction cup to the screen, pull upward, and insert a thin opening pick to slice through the adhesive around the display perimeter.

    Clean adhesive off the frame

    Scrape away all old adhesive residue from the frame channel using tweezers and a bit of isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new screen adhesive

    Lay down fresh double-sided adhesive strips along the entire inner ledge of the frame.

    Position the new screen cable

    Thread the new display's flex cable through the slot in the middle frame.

    Press the new screen into place

    Align the screen with the frame edges and press firmly along the border to seal it in place.

    Reconnect display and battery cables

    Press the display flex connector back onto the motherboard, then reconnect the battery flex connector.

    Reinstall the motherboard shield

    Place the top shield onto the motherboard and tighten all the Phillips screws.

    Reinstall the loudspeaker

    Set the loudspeaker module into the lower frame and reinsert its Phillips screws.

    Seal the back cover

    Apply new adhesive to the back cover perimeter, align it with the frame, and press firmly to seal.

    Reinsert the SIM tray
