   Power down the device

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely off before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left frame edge. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it completely.

   Heat the back cover

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive sealing the rear panel.

   Slice the rear adhesive

   Attach a suction cup near the bottom edge and pull up to create a gap. Insert an opening pick and slice along the bottom seam.

   Separate the back cover

   Slide the pick around all sides of the device to release the perimeter adhesive. Lift the back cover free and set it aside.

   Unscrew the motherboard cover

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper motherboard shield. Organize the screws by size and location.

   Remove the motherboard cover

   Insert a plastic spudger under the edge of the motherboard shield. Carefully lift and unclip the shield from the frame.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Keep metal tools away from the circuit board.

   Disconnect the interconnect cable

   Unplug the display interconnect flex cable that runs over the battery. Gently bend the cable away to clear access to the battery.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery. Wait two minutes for the solvent to weaken the glue.

    Pull the battery adhesive tab

    Grasp the exposed battery pull tab with fingers or blunt tweezers. Pull slowly and continuously at a flat angle to stretch out the adhesive.

    Remove the battery

    Insert a flat plastic opening tool beneath the battery frame edge. Gently leverage the battery upward and lift it out of the chassis.

    Clean the battery cavity

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue and alcohol from the phone frame using a lint-free cloth. Ensure the recess is completely dry.

    Apply new adhesive

    Peel the backing from new battery adhesive strips and stick them into the battery compartment. Remove the top protective film.

    Install the new battery

    Align the replacement battery over the recess and press it firmly into position. Verify that the battery lies completely flat.

    Reconnect flex cables

    Snap the main interconnect cable and the battery cable back onto their motherboard sockets. You should feel a distinct click when secured.

    Reattach the motherboard cover

    Place the upper motherboard shield back over the board. Fasten all Phillips #00 screws to hold it tightly in place.

    Apply rear panel adhesive

    Position custom-cut adhesive tape along the outer rim of the frame. Peel off the blue protective backing layer.

    Reattach the back cover

    Align the rear plastic panel with the frame and press down firmly along the perimeter. Hold pressure for one minute to ensure a strong bond.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into its slot until flush with the frame. Power on the phone to test normal functionality and charging.
