Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely powered down before beginning.
- 2
Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it completely free.
- 3
Heat the back cover
2 minApply heat to the edges of the back cover for two minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer. This softens the perimeter adhesive holding the back panel.
- 4
Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel and press firmly. Pull upward on the ring to create a small gap between the panel and the frame.
- 5
Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slice slowly through the adhesive along the bottom edge.
- 6
Slice perimeter adhesive
3 minGuide the opening pick around the remaining sides and top corner of the phone. Keep the pick depth shallow to avoid damaging internal components.
- 7
Remove the back cover
1 minLift the back cover away from the phone frame once all adhesive is cut. Set the back panel aside on a clean surface.
- 8
Unscrew the speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove seven screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly. Keep track of each screw for reassembly.
- 9
Pry up the speaker housing
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the top edge of the speaker module housing. Carefully pry upward to release the clips securing it to the frame.
- 10
Remove the old speaker module
1 minLift the speaker housing assembly out of the bottom chassis using your fingers or tweezers. Discard the damaged unit.
- 11
Install the new speaker module
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker assembly into the lower cavity of the frame. Press down evenly until the module clips flush into place.
- 12
Secure the speaker housing screws
3 minReinstall the seven Phillips #000 screws into the loudspeaker assembly. Tighten them firmly until snug, taking care not to strip the threads.
- 13
Clean old adhesive residue
2 minDampen a microfibre cloth with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol and wipe away remaining adhesive from the chassis rim.
- 14
Apply new back cover adhesive
2 minLay fresh double-sided adhesive tape or pre-cut adhesive strips along the phone's rear frame edges. Peel off the protective film backing.
- 15
Reattach the back cover
2 minAlign the back cover over the frame and press around the perimeter firmly to seal the adhesive.
- 16
Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left edge until it sits flush against the housing.
