   Power off the Moto G 5G

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the frame to release the tray.

   Heat the rear panel

   Apply heat evenly along the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

   Slice rear panel adhesive

   Insert an opening pick under the lower seam of the back panel and carefully slide it around all four edges.

   Remove the rear panel

   Gently lift the rear plastic cover away from the phone body and set it aside.

   Unscrew the motherboard bracket

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the top protective bracket.

   Remove the upper bracket

   Pry up gently on the motherboard bracket using a plastic spudger to unhook and lift it off.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Pry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

   Unscrew the loudspeaker module

   Remove all Phillips screws securing the speaker housing at the bottom of the device.

    Remove the loudspeaker module

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the speaker module and lift it out from the frame.

    Disconnect the display cable

    Use the edge of your spudger to pop the main display flex connector off its motherboard socket.

    Heat the display panel

    Apply heat across the perimeter of the front glass screen for two to three minutes to break down the adhesive.

    Attach suction cup to screen

    Press a suction cup firmly near the bottom edge of the glass display screen.

    Slice front screen adhesive

    Pull up on the suction cup to create a gap, then slide an opening pick around the entire frame boundary.

    Remove the damaged display

    Lift the display assembly up from the phone housing, carefully threading the flex cable through the slot.

    Clean adhesive from frame

    Scrape away lingering adhesive strips and tiny glass particles using tweezers and isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new frame adhesive

    Lay pre-cut double-sided display adhesive strips along the recessed ledge of the midframe.

    Install the replacement display

    Thread the new display flex cable through the midframe opening and seat the screen into the frame.

    Reconnect display and battery

    Press the display connector and battery connector back into their motherboard sockets until they snap in place.

    Reinstall internal covers

    Place the loudspeaker module and motherboard cover in position, then reinstall all Phillips screws.

    Reattach the rear panel

    Align the back cover over the frame and press firmly along all edges to re-seal the adhesive.

    Reinsert the SIM tray
