   Power off the device

   Turn off your Motorola Moto G 5G completely before beginning disassembly. Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or small paperclip into the pinhole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it.

   Heat the rear panel

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat for 2 to 3 minutes around the back cover edges. This softens the perimeter adhesive holding the back panel.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower section of the back panel. Gently pull up on the ring to create a minor gap between the cover and frame.

   Insert an opening pick

   Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap beneath the back cover edge. Slide it gently along the seam to slice the adhesive layer.

   Slice perimeter rear adhesive

   Continue sliding the pick along all sides of the back cover. Keep the pick shallow on the right side to avoid damaging the fingerprint sensor ribbon.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex

   Slightly lift the back cover like a book cover. Use a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector off the motherboard.

   Unscrew the upper motherboard cover

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper plastic frame cover. Keep track of each screw position for accurate reassembly.

   Remove the plastic motherboard shield

   Pry beneath the edges of the upper motherboard cover using a spudger. Lift the plastic cover free from the chassis and set it aside.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Pry it straight up with the flat edge of a spudger to cut power to the board.

    Disconnect the display flex cable

    Unplug the wide display flex ribbon cable attached to the main board using your spudger. Unscrew and detach the lower speaker housing if required to free the flex.

    Heat the front display

    Apply heat evenly around the screen bezel for 3 minutes using a heat gun. This softens the factory screen adhesive underneath.

    Pry open the front display glass

    Apply a suction cup to the front screen and pull up to create a small gap. Slide an opening pick under the glass edge to cut through adhesive.

    Slice all display edge adhesive

    Guide the pick carefully around all four sides of the display. Ensure you cut through all outer glue bands without damaging internal frame tabs.

    Separate screen from frame

    Lift the damaged display off the phone body while carefully threading the flex cable out through the frame slot.

    Clean old frame adhesive

    Scrape remaining adhesive and broken glass fragments off the metal frame rim using a spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply display adhesive strips

    Apply fresh precut double-sided adhesive along the inner perimeter of the frame. Press down firmly, then peel off the protective backing paper.

    Install the new screen assembly

    Thread the new display's flex cable through the slot in the frame chassis. Seat the screen flush against the frame and press evenly into place.

    Reconnect flex cables and battery

    Plug the screen flex cable into the motherboard connector, followed by the battery flex connector. Ensure both press firmly into place.

    Reinstall midframe and rear panel

    Reattach the motherboard plastic shield with screws, reconnect the fingerprint sensor, apply rear adhesive, and press the back cover tightly shut.
