Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM card tray on the left edge. Push firmly to pop the tray out and set it aside.

Heat the rear perimeter
2 minUse a hair dryer or heat gun to warm the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the internal perimeter clips.

Create an opening gap
2 minAttach a suction cup to the lower back cover and pull upward gently. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap created at the seam.

Unclip the back cover
3 minSlide the plastic pick around all sides of the phone to release the plastic retaining clips along the frame.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the back cover from the right edge. Use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable off its motherboard connector.

Unscrew the lower housing
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the plastic loudspeaker cover at the bottom of the phone.

Remove the loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert a flat pry tool under the edge of the loudspeaker bracket and lift it out of the phone body.

Extract the old speaker driver
2 minUse tweezers to gently pry the internal speaker module out of the plastic housing if your replacement is not pre-assembled.

Install the new speaker driver
2 minPress the replacement speaker into the housing recess, ensuring the gold spring contacts point outward toward the board.

Align the speaker assembly
2 minPosition the loudspeaker housing back over the bottom sub-board and press gently until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the lower screws
3 minThread and tighten the seven Phillips #000 screws into the loudspeaker assembly until snug.

Attach the fingerprint cable
2 minHold the rear cover near the motherboard and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector directly into its socket.

Snap the rear cover on
2 minAlign the back cover with the frame and press firmly along all perimeter edges until you hear the clips snap into place.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left side of the device until flush.

Test audio playback
2 minPower on the device, play an audio file or ringtone, and confirm the new loudspeaker produces clear sound.
