Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select power off to shut down the phone completely.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone and pull out the tray.

Heat rear cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice back panel adhesive
4 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull gently, and insert a plastic pick into the gap. Slide the pick around the perimeter to sever the glue.

Disconnect fingerprint cable
2 minTilt the rear cover open slightly from the right side. Use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable off its motherboard connector.

Unscrew speaker housing
3 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the lower speaker enclosure to the phone frame.

Remove speaker module
2 minPry up the plastic speaker housing with a spudger and remove it from the bottom of the device.

Disconnect main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the main ribbon cable from the microphone sub-board.

Disconnect antenna cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift and unclip the white coaxial antenna cable from the sub-board.

Remove old microphone board
2 minGently wedge a plastic prying tool under the microphone sub-board and lift it out from the chassis.

Set new microphone board
2 minPosition the new microphone sub-board into the lower housing cutout and press lightly until it rests flush.

Attach main flex cable
1 minAlign the interconnect flex cable connector over the new board and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Connect antenna cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna cable head over its socket on the sub-board and gently press it down with tweezers.

Reinstall speaker housing
2 minPlace the speaker enclosure over the sub-board and press it down to snap it into place.

Secure speaker screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws to hold the speaker housing in place.

Reconnect fingerprint cable
2 minHold the rear cover near the frame and snap the fingerprint sensor connector back onto the motherboard.

Reseal back panel
3 minApply new adhesive strips along the perimeter frame, align the rear cover, and press firmly along the edges to seal.
