Step-by-step

Power off phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the device completely.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the phone and push firmly to pop out the tray.

Heat rear cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to gently warm the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear cover and pull upward to create a slight gap.

Insert opening pick
1 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created between the rear cover and the frame.

Slice rear adhesive
3 minSlide the pick carefully around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Open rear cover
1 minGently swing open the rear cover from the right edge, taking care not to stretch the fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect fingerprint cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop up the fingerprint reader press connector from the motherboard.

Remove lower screws
2 minUnscrew the Phillips #000 screws securing the plastic loudspeaker housing over the bottom daughterboard.

Remove speaker assembly
1 minPry up and remove the loudspeaker module from the bottom of the frame.

Disconnect main flex cable
1 minUse a spudger to disconnect the lower end of the main interconnect flex cable from the charging daughterboard.

Disconnect antenna cable
1 minCarefully pry up the coaxial antenna cable head from its socket on the daughterboard using tweezers.

Remove daughterboard screw
1 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw holding the charging daughterboard to the inner frame.

Remove old charging board
1 minLever the spudger under the daughterboard to unstick it and lift it out of the chassis.

Position new charging board
1 minPlace the new replacement charging port daughterboard into the lower housing slot.

Secure daughterboard screw
1 minReinstall and tighten the single Phillips #000 screw to hold the new board in place.

Reconnect antenna cable
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna cable over its socket on the daughterboard and snap it gently into place.

Reconnect main flex cable
1 minAlign and press down on the main interconnect flex cable connector until it clicks onto the daughterboard.

Reinstall speaker assembly
1 minPlace the loudspeaker module back onto the lower section of the phone over the daughterboard.

Secure speaker screws
2 minReinstall the Phillips #000 screws to firmly secure the loudspeaker housing.

Connect fingerprint cable
1 minSnap the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector back onto the motherboard.

Reseal back cover
2 minApply new adhesive tape along the perimeter frame and press the rear cover back into place.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM tray back into its slot on the left edge until flush with the frame.
