Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the SIM card tray and remove it.

Heat the Rear Cover
2 minUse a heat gun or iOpener to heat the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction handle near the bottom edge of the back panel and pull up gently to create a small gap.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minInsert an opening pick into the gap between the rear cover and the frame.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all sides of the phone to slice through the adhesive holding the back panel.

Prop Open Rear Cover
2 minGently tilt open the rear cover from the left side, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew Motherboard Cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the plastic motherboard shield.

Remove Motherboard Cover
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the upper motherboard shield from the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
1 minPry up the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector to completely free the rear cover.

Unscrew Loudspeaker Housing
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the loudspeaker assembly at the bottom of the device.

Remove Old Loudspeaker
2 minInsert the point of a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker unit and pry it out of the lower frame.

Clean Adhesive Residue
2 minClean away remaining glue or debris from the frame perimeter using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

Install New Loudspeaker
2 minAlign the new loudspeaker module into the lower housing cavity and press down until it snaps into place.

Secure Loudspeaker Screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to secure the loudspeaker module.

Reconnect Flex Cables
2 minPress the fingerprint cable and battery connector back into their respective motherboard sockets.

Reinstall Motherboard Cover
3 minPosition the plastic motherboard shield over the top assembly and secure it with its screws.

Apply Rear Adhesive
3 minApply fresh pre-cut adhesive along the inner rim of the phone's back frame.

2 minAlign the rear cover with the chassis and press firmly along the edges to seal the phone shut.
