Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out and remove it completely.

Heat the Back Cover
2 minApply heat along the outer edges of the back cover using a heat gun for two minutes to soften the rear adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower half of the back cover and press down to create a firm seal. Pull up gently to form a thin gap.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the seam near the bottom edge. Slide the tool around all four sides to separate the back panel adhesive.

Lift the Back Panel
2 minGently swing open the back cover from the left side like a book cover. Take care not to strain the attached power and fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew Motherboard Shield
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard frame cover. Set the screws aside in an organized tray.

Remove Motherboard Shield
2 minInsert the flat edge of a spudger under the plastic motherboard cover and pry up to detach it from the frame.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from the motherboard logic board. This prevents short circuits during the repair.

Disconnect Power Button Cable
2 minPry up the power button flex connector from its socket on the motherboard using the pointed tip of a spudger.

Remove Power Button Bracket
2 minUse tweezers to unclip and remove the internal metal bracket retaining the power button assembly against the side frame.

Pry Out Power Button Flex
3 minSlide fine tweezers beneath the power button flex cable to separate it from the frame adhesive. Lift the damaged power button assembly out.

Install New Power Button
3 minAlign the replacement power button flex cable into the frame slot and press firmly so the adhesive backing secures it in place.
