Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the card tray on the left edge. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply heat to the edges of the rear panel with a heat gun or hairdryer on medium setting for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear panel, just above the USB port.

Create an opening gap
2 minPull up on the suction cup handle to create a small gap between the back cover and the frame. Insert a plastic opening pick into the seam.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the plastic pick along all sides of the rear panel to cut through the perimeter glue.

Lift the rear cover carefully
2 minHinge the back cover open to the right side like a book. Do not pull it away completely, as the fingerprint ribbon cable is still attached.

Unscrew the motherboard cover
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the plastic upper motherboard shield in place.

Remove the motherboard shield
2 minGently pry up and lift the plastic motherboard shield out of the phone body.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector up from its socket on the motherboard to disconnect power.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to dissolve the adhesive underneath.

Release the battery pull tabs
3 minGrasp the adhesive pull tabs at the edge of the battery and pull them out slowly at a low angle.

Remove the old battery
2 minInsert a flat plastic opening card beneath the battery and carefully lift it out of the chassis.

Apply new battery adhesive
2 minPosition replacement battery adhesive strips onto the bottom of the battery well in the frame.

Install the new battery
2 minSet the new battery into the frame recess and press down firmly to secure it against the adhesive.
