Step-by-step

Remove SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to eject the SIM card tray.

Heat Rear Cover
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear cover with a heat gun or iOpener for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice Rear Cover Adhesive
5 minInsert an opening pick under the edge of the back panel and slide it around the perimeter to sever the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover and use precision tweezers to disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable from the mainboard.

Unscrew Motherboard Shield
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover.

Remove Motherboard Shield
2 minPry up the upper plastic motherboard shield with a plastic opening tool and set it aside.
