Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the Moto G84
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the tray on the upper left side. Push firmly until the tray pops out and remove it.

Heat the Rear Cover
3 minApply heat to the edges of the back panel using a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover and press firmly to create a seal.

Insert an Opening Pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap between the back cover and frame. Insert a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice Rear Panel Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the adhesive. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal cables.

Remove the Rear Cover
2 minLift the rear cover away from the chassis. Set it aside on a clean work surface.

Unscrew the Lower Loudspeaker Assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the bottom speaker cover over the daughterboard.

Remove the Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert the pointed end of a spudger under the speaker housing and gently pry it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the Main Flex Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the lower end of the main interconnect flex cable straight up off the daughterboard.

Disconnect Antenna Connectors
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently unsnap the white and black coaxial antenna cable connectors from the sub-board.

Pry Up the Daughterboard
2 minInsert a spudger under the sub-board containing the integrated primary microphone and pry it gently up out of the chassis.

Clean the Frame Microphone Port
2 minInspect the microphone channel at the bottom frame of the phone. Clear out any dust or lint using tweezers or condensed air.

Install the New Daughterboard
2 minPosition the new sub-board into the frame recess and press gently until it sits completely flush.

Reconnect Antenna Cables and Flex Interconnect
2 minPress the coaxial connectors back onto their sub-board terminals with tweezers, then snap down the main ribbon cable connector.

Reinstall the Loudspeaker Module
3 minPlace the loudspeaker housing over the sub-board and reinstall the Phillips #000 screws until snug.

Apply New Perimeter Adhesive
3 minClean remaining adhesive off the frame using isopropyl alcohol, then apply fresh custom cut adhesive strips along the edges.

Reseal Cover and Test
3 minPress the rear cover firmly onto the phone frame along all edges. Reinsert the SIM tray, power on the device, and record a voice memo to test the new microphone.
