Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the frame. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat Back Cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer along the perimeter of the back cover for 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the rear panel.

Attach Suction Handle
1 minPlace a suction handle near the bottom edge of the softened back cover. Press down firmly to create a seal.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction handle to create a tiny gap at the bottom edge. Slide a plastic opening pick into the gap.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minSlide the opening pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the adhesive. Reapply heat if the pick meets resistance.

Remove Back Cover
1 minLift the rear panel completely off the device chassis. Set it aside in a clean, dust-free area.

Unscrew Midframe Fasteners
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the plastic midframe and motherboard bezel.

Separate Midframe Assembly
2 minInsert a plastic spudger between the midframe and the front screen assembly. Pry gently around the edges to release the plastic retention clips.

Remove Midframe
1 minLift the plastic midframe off the phone chassis once all clips are freed. Be careful not to snag any internal components.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat edge of a plastic spudger to pry up the battery press connector directly from the motherboard. Never use metal tools near the battery connection.

Disconnect Main Interconnect Cable
1 minPry up the lower and upper press connectors for the main display interconnect flex cable. Gently fold the cable back out of the battery cavity.

Apply Isopropyl Alcohol
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery cavity. Allow 2 minutes for the adhesive to soften.

Pull Battery Removal Tab
2 minLocate the battery pull tab on the side of the battery. Grasp the tab firmly and pull slowly outward at a low angle.

Lift Out Battery
1 minPry gently beneath the battery with a flat plastic opening card if any adhesive remains. Lift the old battery free from the chassis.

Clean Battery Cavity
2 minScrape away remaining adhesive residue from the metal frame using a plastic tool and isopropyl alcohol. Ensure the frame surface is completely flat and dry.

Apply New Battery Adhesive
2 minPeel the protective backing off new battery adhesive strips and press them firmly into the phone's battery compartment. Remove the top liner.

Install Replacement Battery
1 minAlign the new battery in the cavity and press it down firmly. Ensure it sits completely flat and does not pinch any underlying flex cables.

Reconnect Flex Cables
2 minPress the main interconnect flex cable and battery cable connectors directly onto their sockets until they snap into place.

Snap Midframe into Place
2 minAlign the plastic midframe over the motherboard and lower housing. Press down around the perimeter until all plastic clips snap securely.

Drive Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall all Phillips #00 screws into the midframe. Tighten until snug, taking care not to overtighten and strip the plastic threads.

Reinsert SIM Tray
1 minAlign the SIM card tray with its slot on the left frame edge and press it in until it sits flush.

Seal Back Cover
2 minApply new perimeter adhesive tape or pre-cut adhesive to the rear housing, then press the back cover firmly onto the phone for 30 seconds.
