Power Down Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Shut Down on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered off before starting.

Eject the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small pinhole next to the SIM tray. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it from the phone.

Warm the Rear Cover Edges
2 minApply heat around the outer edges of the rear plastic panel for two minutes using a heat gun set to low heat. This softens the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull up firmly to create a small gap between the rear cover and the frame.

Slice Rear Cover Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic pry tool into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the tool gently around the perimeter to release the plastic clips and adhesive.

Pivot Rear Panel Open
2 minGently lift the right side of the back cover like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint sensor flex cable is still connected.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minUse a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Set the back panel aside.

Unscrew Motherboard Cover
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard protective cover.

Remove Motherboard Cover
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the motherboard shield and lift it off the chassis.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to eliminate electrical hazard.

Disconnect Volume Button Flex Cable
2 minLocate the volume button ZIF flex cable connector on the side of the motherboard. Use a spudger to carefully flip up the retaining locking flap and slide the cable out.

Peel Up Volume Cable Assembly
3 minUse fine tweezers to gently peel the volume button flex cable away from the internal side wall of the frame.

Remove Volume Button Key
2 minPush the external volume button key inward or unclip its metal bracket inside the frame slot to extract the physical button.

Install Replacement Volume Button Key
2 minAlign the new physical volume button key into the side slot from inside the frame until it sits flush.

Adhere Replacement Flex Assembly
3 minRemove protective backing from the new volume flex cable's adhesive. Press the button contacts securely onto the inner side frame.

Connect Replacement Cable to Board
2 minSlide the volume button ribbon end into the motherboard ZIF connector socket and flip down the locking lever to lock it in place.

Seal Rear Cover
3 minAlign the rear cover back onto the frame and press firmly along all edges until the plastic clips snap securely into position.
