Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button until options appear on screen, then tap Power Off.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the tray hole on the upper left side of the frame to release and remove the SIM tray.

Heat Back Cover Edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to heat the rear perimeter of the phone for 2 minutes to soften the back cover adhesive.

Slice Rear Panel Adhesive
3 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull upward to create a gap, and insert an opening pick beneath the back cover.

Separate Rear Panel
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges to slice through the remaining adhesive, taking care not to pry near the fingerprint sensor.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minSlightly lift the back cover, then use a plastic spudger to detach the fingerprint reader press connector from the motherboard.

Unscrew Upper Plastic Shield
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws holding the black plastic protective cover over the top logic board assembly.

Remove Upper Frame Cover
2 minInsert a spudger under the plastic bracket edge and lift the motherboard cover free from the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard to eliminate electrical power.

Unplug Display and Main Cables
2 minUse a spudger to disconnect the display flex cable and main board interconnect flex cable from the logic board.

Unplug Antenna Cables
2 minGently pry up the round coaxial antenna connectors from the logic board using precision tweezers.

Remove Front and Rear Cameras
3 minDisconnect and remove the front selfie camera and rear camera module flex cables from their sockets.

Remove Board Retaining Screws
2 minUnscrew any remaining Phillips #00 screws securing the logic board directly to the phone housing.

Lift Out Logic Board
2 minGently insert a plastic opening tool beneath the edge of the logic board and tilt it upward out of the frame.

Install Replacement Logic Board
3 minPosition the new logic board into the phone frame and press it down flush until properly seated.
