Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray, then pull it out completely.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear panel using a heat gun or hair dryer for 1 to 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the back cover.

Attach a suction cup to the rear panel
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull upward gently on the suction cup handle to create a small seam between the cover and the frame.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created at the bottom edge of the phone. Keep the pick flat to avoid damaging internal flex cables.

Slice through the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the plastic opening pick along all four edges of the back cover to release the adhesive strips. Reapply heat if the pick meets heavy resistance.

Open the rear cover gently
2 minCarefully swing open the rear cover to the right side like a book. Do not pull the cover completely away yet, as the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable is still connected.

Unscrew the fingerprint bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw holding the metal fingerprint reader bracket. Lift the bracket away using tweezers.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to snap the fingerprint sensor press connector straight up off the motherboard socket. Set the rear cover aside.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the black loudspeaker module at the bottom of the phone frame.

Pry up the loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert the tip of a spudger into the small notch on the side of the speaker module. Gently lever the housing upward to dislodge it from the frame.

Remove the old loudspeaker module
1 minLift the loudspeaker module out of the lower chassis completely. Inspect the housing cavity for any leftover adhesive or debris.

Install the new loudspeaker module
2 minPlace the replacement loudspeaker assembly directly into the lower housing cavity. Press firmly along the edges until it sits flush with the frame.

Secure the loudspeaker screws
3 minReinstall the seven Phillips #00 screws into the loudspeaker assembly to lock it tightly into place.

Reconnect the fingerprint cable and reassemble
4 minAlign and press the fingerprint sensor connector back onto its motherboard socket, reattach its metal bracket with its screw, and press the back cover firmly onto the frame.
