Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minTurn off your Motorola Moto G8 Power completely before beginning the disassembly.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray on the left edge and pull the tray out.

Heat back panel
2 minApply a heat gun or iOpener to the rear cover edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive layer.

Slice back cover adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam near the SIM slot and slice along the edges to release the clips and adhesive.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minTilt the back panel open slightly and use a spudger to pop the fingerprint reader flex cable off the motherboard.

Remove upper bracket screws
3 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper motherboard protective plastic cover and lift the cover out.

Disconnect battery cable
1 minUse the flat edge of a spudger to pry the battery flex cable directly up from its motherboard socket.

Remove loudspeaker screws
3 minRemove the seven Phillips #00 screws holding the lower speaker module over the sub-board.

Pry out loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the edge of the speaker enclosure and pry it up out of the chassis.

Disconnect main interconnect cable
1 minDetach the lower ribbon connector of the main interconnect cable from the sub-board using a spudger.

Disconnect antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse precision tweezers to unclip the black and white antenna cable heads straight up off the sub-board.

Remove faulty sub-board
2 minPry carefully beneath the sub-board with an opening pick to free it from the frame adhesive and remove it.

Transfer microphone rubber gasket
2 minUse tweezers to lift the small rubber microphone seal from the old board and position it onto the replacement sub-board.

Install new sub-board
2 minSet the new microphone sub-board into the lower housing notch and press firmly to seat it in place.

Reconnect antenna cables
2 minAlign and gently press the antenna cable connectors onto their sub-board ports until they snap shut.

Reconnect interconnect and battery cables
2 minPress the interconnect ribbon connector onto the sub-board and reattach the main battery flex cable to the motherboard.

Reinstall covers and back panel
5 minScrew the speaker module and upper bracket back in, reconnect the fingerprint flex, and press the back cover firmly onto the phone.
