Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push gently until the tray pops out and remove it completely.

Heat the Rear Cover
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to warm the back cover edges for 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the plastic rear shell.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPress a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back panel. Pull upward gently to create a seam between the cover and midframe.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide it along all four sides to slice through the adhesive seal.

Pry Open Rear Cover
2 minCarefully swing the rear cover open like a book from the left side. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint cable is still connected.

Remove Motherboard Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic top motherboard cover. Keep track of the screws for reassembly.

Detach Motherboard Frame
2 minInsert a spudger under the top plastic frame and lift it up to detach it from the phone chassis. Set the frame aside.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minUse a flat plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Remove the rear panel.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery connector directly up from the motherboard to safely cut electrical power to the device.

1 minUse the plastic spudger to detach the main display interconnect cable that runs across the top of the battery.

Soften Battery Glue
2 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery. Allow it to sit for 1 minute to weaken the adhesive.

Pry Out Old Battery
4 minSlide a wide plastic card or spudger under the battery from the side. Gently lever it upward until the adhesive releases and remove the battery.

Clean Battery Recess
2 minClean any remaining adhesive residue from the frame recess using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth. Ensure the surface is completely dry.

Apply Battery Adhesive
2 minPlace new custom battery adhesive strips onto the back of the replacement battery. Peel off the protective film backing.

Place New Battery
2 minLower the new battery into the housing recess and press down firmly across its surface to set the adhesive.

Reconnect Cables
2 minReattach the main display interconnect cable and the battery press connector to their motherboard sockets. Press gently until they snap into place.

Reinstall Motherboard Shield
3 minAlign the plastic motherboard cover over the upper board and replace all Phillips screws firmly.

Reconnect Fingerprint Flex
2 minPosition the rear cover close to the frame and snap the fingerprint sensor connector back onto its port.
