Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer along the back cover edges for 1 to 2 minutes to soften the internal perimeter adhesive.

Unclip the rear cover
4 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and display bezel, then slide it around to release the internal plastic clips.

Unscrew the fingerprint sensor bracket
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover to locate the fingerprint sensor bracket, then remove the Phillips #000 screw securing it.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press connector up off the motherboard.

Remove the upper motherboard cover screws
3 minUnscrew the 10 Phillips #000 screws holding down the plastic motherboard shield.

Pry off the motherboard shield
2 minInsert the edge of a spudger beneath the motherboard cover and lift it away from the chassis.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minPry up the battery press connector from the top left side of the motherboard using a spudger.

Disconnect the main display flex cable
1 minLocate the main display connector on the motherboard and disconnect it using the pointed tip of a spudger.

Remove the loudspeaker assembly screws
2 minRemove the Phillips #000 screws securing the loudspeaker module at the bottom of the phone.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minGently pry up the loudspeaker housing from the bottom frame and lift it out.

Remove the battery
5 minPull the clear battery pull-tabs vertically away from the frame, or apply isopropyl alcohol under the battery edges to soften adhesive before lifting.

Heat the front display panel
3 minApply heat evenly across the front screen for 2 minutes to loosen the glass adhesive on the midframe.

Separate the damaged screen panel
5 minAttach a suction cup to the glass near the top edge, lift up, and slide an opening pick around the display perimeter to slice through adhesive.

Thread the flex cable and lift off screen
2 minCarefully guide the screen flex cable through the midframe slot as you completely detach the damaged screen.

Clean screen frame adhesive residue
4 minScrape remaining adhesive and broken glass shards off the metal frame perimeter using a spudger and clean with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new frame adhesive strips
3 minPlace narrow double-sided adhesive strips along the top, bottom, and side edges of the frame bezel.

Install the replacement display assembly
3 minFeed the flex cable of the new screen through the frame slot, align the display carefully, and press it firmly into the frame adhesive.

Reinstall internal components and battery
5 minPlace the battery back into position, reconnect the display and battery flex cables, and screw down the motherboard shield and lower speaker module.

Attach back cover and SIM tray
