Step-by-step
- 1
Power off phone
1 minPress and hold the power button on the side of the device. Tap 'Power off' on the screen and wait for the phone to shut down completely.

Remove SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray, then slide it completely out.

Unclip rear panel
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the plastic rear cover and the display frame near the SIM slot. Slide the pick around the perimeter to release all plastic clips.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor flex
2 minGently lift the rear cover slightly away from the phone body. Use a spudger to detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector from the motherboard.

Remove speaker housing screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws securing the lower speaker assembly over the microphone board.

Remove speaker housing
2 minInsert the edge of a spudger under the speaker housing and pry it gently upward to release it from the frame.

Disconnect coaxial antenna cable
1 minUse precision tweezers or a spudger to pop the black coaxial antenna cable connector up off the bottom sub-board.

Disconnect daughterboard interconnect flex
1 minPry straight up on the main interconnect flex cable connector to disconnect it from the bottom sub-board.

Remove microphone daughterboard
2 minSlide a plastic opening tool under the edge of the sub-board containing the primary microphone. Lift the board straight up and out of the chassis.

Place replacement microphone board
2 minPosition the new microphone sub-board into the lower recess of the phone frame, pressing lightly to seat it evenly.

Reconnect antenna and flex cables
3 minPress the interconnect flex cable connector firmly onto the new sub-board until it snaps in place. Carefully snap the coaxial antenna cable onto its connector pin.

Reinstall speaker housing
2 minSet the speaker assembly back over the bottom sub-board and press down to align the screw holes.

Secure speaker screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the seven Phillips #00 screws securing the speaker housing into place.

Reattach fingerprint sensor flex
2 minHold the rear cover close to the frame and press the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto its socket on the motherboard.

Snap rear cover onto frame
2 minAlign the rear panel with the phone chassis and press firmly along the edges until all plastic tabs snap back into position.

Reinsert SIM card tray
1 minAlign the SIM card tray with its slot and push it straight in until flush with the side of the phone.
