Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the upper left edge of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the SIM card tray and remove it.

Heat Rear Edges
2 minApply heat around the perimeter of the back cover using a heat gun on low power for 1 to 2 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the rear panel.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minPress a suction cup onto the lower back panel and pull up gently to create a gap. Insert an opening pick into the seam and slide it around all four edges.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minTilt the rear cover open like a book to access the motherboard area. Use a spudger to pry up the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector.

Remove Shield Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to unthread the screws holding down the top plastic motherboard bracket.

Remove Motherboard Cover
1 minInsert the tip of a spudger beneath the plastic motherboard shield and lift it off the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket to disconnect power completely.

Disconnect Volume Button Flex
2 minLocate the volume button flex cable connector near the side edge of the motherboard. Pry the connector up to detach it.

Peel Volume Flex Cable
2 minSlide the tip of a pair of tweezers or a flat spudger under the volume flex cable. Gently peel it away from the inner frame adhesive.

Insert New Flex Cable
2 minAlign the replacement volume flex cable into the channel on the inside frame. Press down firmly to stick the adhesive backing in place.

Plug In Volume Cable
1 minAlign the volume button flex connector over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it snaps in.

Reconnect Battery
1 minPress the battery cable connector onto its motherboard socket until you hear a soft click.

Reinstall Motherboard Cover
3 minPlace the plastic motherboard cover back into position and secure it with the Phillips #000 screws.

Attach Fingerprint Connector
2 minHold the rear panel close to the frame and snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable onto the motherboard connector.

Reseal Rear Cover
2 minAlign the rear cover over the phone frame and press along all four edges to seat the adhesive.
