Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before disassembly.

Eject SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the frame. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat Rear Cover
2 minApply a heat gun or heating pad around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick between the back cover and frame along the bottom edge. Gently slide it around the perimeter to sever the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor Flex
2 minSlightly lift the back cover off the chassis and use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor press-connector off the logic board.

Remove Upper Midframe Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic motherboard cover and shield.

Detach Upper Midframe Cover
2 minPry up the plastic motherboard frame using an opening tool and lift it out of the device.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press-fit connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect Display and Sub-Board Cables
2 minUse a spudger to disconnect the main display flex cable and the sub-board interconnect cable from the motherboard.

Unclip Camera Connectors
2 minDisconnect the press-fit connectors for the front and rear cameras, then pull the camera modules out of their recesses.

Remove Motherboard Retaining Screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips screw securing the logic board to the internal phone frame.

Lift Logic Board from Frame
2 minCarefully pry under the edges of the logic board and lift it out of the rear housing.

5 minInspect the logic board under magnification and clean corroded or shorted areas using 99% isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
