Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it completely out.

Heat the back panel
2 minApply heat around the outer edges of the rear panel using a heat gun for two minutes. This softens the adhesive sealing the back cover.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower section of the rear cover. Pull upward firmly to create a small gap between the cover and the frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minInsert an opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the pick around all four edges to cut through the adhesive seal.

Detach the back panel
1 minLift the rear cover away from the phone body. Clean off any residual adhesive along the housing frame and set the cover aside.

Unscrew the loudspeaker housing
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic loudspeaker assembly over the lower board.

Remove the loudspeaker housing
1 minInsert the flat end of a spudger underneath the edge of the speaker module. Pry gently upward to lift and remove it from the phone.

Disconnect the main ribbon cable
1 minPry straight up on the main interconnect ribbon cable connector attached to the sub-board using a spudger.

Disconnect the antenna cable
1 minUse precision tweezers to grip the white coaxial antenna connector head. Lift straight up to unclip it from the board.

Remove the old microphone board
2 minSlide a spudger beneath the sub-board containing the primary microphone. Pry upward gently to release it from the chassis adhesive.

Install the new microphone board
2 minPosition the new microphone board into the bottom recess of the chassis. Press down firmly to ensure it sits flush in place.
