Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minTurn off your Moto G7 completely and do not plug it into a charger under any circumstances.

Eject SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the top edge of the phone to remove the tray.

Heat the rear glass
3 minApply a heat gun or heated iOpener around the rear glass edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice back cover adhesive
5 minInsert a plastic opening pick beneath the back glass edge and slide it around the perimeter.

Remove the daughterboard
2 minPry out the lower sub-board containing the USB-C port and headphone jack.

Pry out the battery
4 minApply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol under the battery edges and lever it out using a plastic flat spudger.

Scrub boards with isopropyl alcohol
8 minSubmerge the motherboard and daughterboard in 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub corrosion off using a soft toothbrush.

Inspect board contacts
5 minExamine the circuit board components under a magnifying glass for remaining residue or burnt traces.

Dry components thoroughly
15 minAllow all cleaned circuit boards to air-dry completely in a well-ventilated area for at least 2 hours.

Reassemble internal components
5 minPlace the boards and battery back into the chassis and reconnect all flex cables firmly.
