Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen.

Heat rear cover
2 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear glass and pull upward firmly to create a small gap.

Insert opening pick
1 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the gap between the glass back cover and the frame.

Slice back cover adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all edges of the rear cover to fully cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Pry open rear cover
2 minGently swing the back cover open from the right edge, taking care not to pull the fingerprint ribbon cable.

Disconnect fingerprint cable
2 minUse plastic tweezers to remove the protective metal bracket and disconnect the fingerprint ribbon cable from the motherboard.

Remove lower speaker screws
2 minUnscrew the T5 Torx screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing to the phone frame.

Remove loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker module and lift it out of the chassis.

Install new loudspeaker
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker assembly into the lower cavity and press it gently into place.

Secure speaker screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the T5 Torx screws to lock the loudspeaker module in position.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minAttach the fingerprint reader ribbon cable to the motherboard connector and snap the metal bracket over it.

Apply back cover adhesive
3 minClean remaining adhesive off the frame with isopropyl alcohol, then apply new pre-cut adhesive tape.

Seal rear glass
2 minAlign the rear glass cover onto the phone body and press down firmly around the edges to secure it.
After your Motorola G7 speaker repair
Power the G7 back on and test the speaker repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
