Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to shut down the device.

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the top edge of the phone to remove the SIM card tray.

Heat Rear Glass
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer along the edges of the rear glass for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear glass near the charging port.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a gap, then slide an opening pick around the perimeter to cut the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover from the right side and use a spudger to unclip the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Remove Rear Glass
1 minLift the rear glass assembly off the chassis and set it aside safely.

Unscrew Speaker Assembly
3 minRemove the eight Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker housing.

Remove Loudspeaker Unit
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and pry it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to pry the main flex interconnect cable straight up from the daughterboard.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to pry up the white coaxial antenna cable connector from the daughterboard.

Remove Daughterboard
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the daughterboard holding the primary microphone and pry it out of the housing.

Transfer Rubber Mic Gasket
2 minUse tweezers to carefully remove the rubber microphone boot from the old board and install it on the new board.

Install New Daughterboard
2 minPress the replacement microphone daughterboard into the frame until it rests flat.

Reconnect Connectors
2 minSnap the main flex cable and antenna cable securely onto the new daughterboard terminals.

Reassemble Loudspeaker
3 minPlace the loudspeaker housing back over the bottom section and tighten the eight Phillips #00 screws.

Reattach Fingerprint Flex
2 minHold the rear glass near the frame and snap the fingerprint sensor cable back onto the motherboard connector.

Reseal Rear Glass
3 minApply fresh precut adhesive to the rear perimeter and press the rear glass firmly onto the chassis.
