Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge of the device. Tap Power Off on the screen and wait for the phone to shut down completely.

Heat the rear glass
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the edges of the rear glass cover for two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the back panel.

Attach a suction handle
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass panel. Pull upward with steady pressure to create a small gap along the seam.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap created beneath the rear glass. Keep the pick shallow to avoid damaging internal flex cables.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the opening pick around all four edges of the rear panel to cut through the glue. Insert additional picks in each corner to prevent re-sealing.

Pivot open the rear glass
2 minGently lift the right side of the rear glass like opening a book. Do not pull the glass away entirely, as the fingerprint sensor cable is still connected.

Disconnect the fingerprint cable
2 minUse the flat edge of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket. Set the back glass aside.

Unscrew the lower speaker cover
3 minUse a Phillips PH00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower plastic speaker housing over the charging port.

Pry out the speaker assembly
2 minInsert an opening pick under the edge of the lower speaker assembly. Gently pry up to release the plastic clips and remove the module.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
2 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger. This cuts power to prevent accidental short circuits.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
2 minUnplug the primary ribbon cable connector from the bottom charging port daughterboard using the plastic spudger.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minGrasp the metal head of the antenna cable connector with fine tweezers. Pry it straight up to disconnect it from the daughterboard.

Remove the old daughterboard
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the bottom edge of the charging port board. Pry upward carefully to release it from the phone frame.

Insert the new charging board
2 minAlign the replacement USB-C daughterboard into the bottom cavity of the frame. Press down gently until it sits completely flush.

Reconnect the coaxial cable
2 minPosition the tiny antenna connector over its board terminal using tweezers. Press down firmly until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the interconnect flex cable
2 minAlign the main flex cable connector over the daughterboard socket. Press down evenly on both sides until you feel it snap into place.

Reconnect the battery cable
2 minAlign the battery flex connector over its terminal near the middle frame. Press down firmly to restore electrical connection.

Reinstall the speaker assembly
2 minPlace the lower speaker cover back over the daughterboard module. Press firmly along the edges until the plastic tabs lock.

Secure the speaker housing screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the Phillips screws into the lower speaker housing using your PH00 screwdriver.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minHold the rear glass panel near the edge of the chassis and snap the fingerprint cable press connector onto the motherboard socket.

Apply fresh rear adhesive
4 minClean remaining glue from the phone frame with isopropyl alcohol, then line the outer perimeter with pre-cut double-sided tape.

Seal the rear glass panel
3 minAlign the rear cover precisely over the frame and press it firmly into place. Apply moderate heat for 60 seconds to set the adhesive seal.
