Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before continuing.

Remove the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or small paperclip into the pinhole on the left side of the frame. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it free.

Heat the Back Cover
3 minApply heat to the outer edges of the rear panel using a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach a Suction Cup
2 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear panel. Pull upward gently on the ring to create a slight gap between the glass and frame.

Insert an Opening Pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup along the bottom edge of the phone.

Slice the Rear Adhesive
4 minSlide the pick carefully around the perimeter to cut through the glue. Reapply heat to stubborn areas if the pick begins to drag.

Disconnect the Fingerprint Cable
2 minGently lift the back cover, hinging it from the left edge. Use a plastic spudger to pop the fingerprint reader flex cable off the motherboard before removing the cover completely.

3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the upper plastic motherboard cover.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minLocate the battery flex cable near the top center of the motherboard. Pry the connector straight up using a plastic spudger to cut power to the board.

Disconnect the Volume Flex Cable
2 minUse the tip of a spudger to pry the volume and power button flex cable connector off its socket on the edge of the motherboard.

Peel Off the Volume Flex Cable
3 minApply a tiny drop of isopropyl alcohol under the flex assembly. Use precision tweezers to slowly peel the old button flex cable off the internal frame.

Install the New Volume Flex Cable
3 minPeel off the protective adhesive film on the replacement flex cable. Align the buttons and contacts accurately into the frame recess, pressing down firmly to secure them.

Reconnect the Cable and Battery
2 minPress the new volume flex cable connector into its motherboard socket, then reconnect the battery flex cable.

Reassemble and Seal
4 minReinstall the plastic midframe cover and screws, reconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable, and press the back cover firmly onto fresh adhesive tape.
