Step-by-step

Power Off Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.

Remove SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone. Push firmly to eject the tray, then remove it.

Heat Back Cover
2 minUse a heat gun on low power to heat the perimeter of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Apply Suction Cup
1 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel. Pull up gently to create a seam between the panel and frame.

Slice Back Cover Adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the seam and slowly slide along the edges to slice through the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Cable
2 minCarefully tilt the rear panel open from the left side. Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the internal plastic midframe cover.

Remove Midframe Cover
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the midframe edge and lift it off the motherboard.

Disconnect Battery
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard to disconnect power.

Disconnect Power Button Cable
2 minUse tweezers to lift the locking tab on the power button ZIF connector, then pull the flex cable out.

Remove Damaged Power Button Flex
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick behind the power button flex cable inside the housing to peel it away from the frame.

Clean Button Housing
2 minApply a drop of isopropyl alcohol to a cotton swab and clean any remaining adhesive residue from the power button bracket.

Install New Power Button Flex
2 minPeel the adhesive backing off the replacement power button flex cable and press it firmly into position in the frame.

Connect Power Button Cable
2 minInsert the flex cable into the ZIF socket on the motherboard and snap the locking lever down to secure it.

Reconnect Battery
1 minAlign the battery connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Reinstall Midframe Shield
3 minPlace the midframe cover over the motherboard and tighten the Phillips #00 screws until snug.

Reconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minHold the rear panel close to the phone body and snap the fingerprint sensor cable back onto its motherboard socket.

Reattach Back Cover
3 minApply new adhesive strips along the phone frame, lower the rear cover into place, and press firmly along all edges to seal.
