Step-by-step

Heat the rear cover
3 minApply a heat gun or heating pad around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Slice the adhesive seal
5 minInsert a thin plastic pick under the edge of the back cover and slide it around the perimeter to slice through the glue.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the back cover and use a spudger to detach the fingerprint reader flex cable from the motherboard.

Remove the midframe screws
4 minUse a precision screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the internal plastic midframe and lower speaker housing.

Unsnap the speaker assembly
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool under the lower speaker housing and pop it free from the phone frame.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its socket on the motherboard to disconnect power completely.

Reinstall midframe screws

Seal the back cover
