Step-by-step

Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the SIM tray. Press firmly to pop out the tray and remove it completely.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer on medium power to soften the rear panel adhesive around all four edges for roughly two minutes.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover and pull gently to create a slight gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPush the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minSlide the pick carefully along all four sides of the rear cover to separate the adhesive. Stop near the center back where the fingerprint sensor cable runs.

Carefully tilt open the rear cover
2 minGently lift the back cover from the left edge like a book, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Unscrew the fingerprint bracket
1 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw holding down the metal bracket over the fingerprint cable connector.

Remove the fingerprint bracket
1 minUse tweezers to lift and remove the small metal bracket covering the fingerprint flex cable connector.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable
1 minPry the fingerprint sensor connector straight up off the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Remove the rear cover
1 minSet the freed rear cover aside in a safe, clean location.

Unscrew the lower loudspeaker housing
2 minRemove the Phillips screws securing the plastic loudspeaker assembly over the daughterboard at the bottom of the device.

Pry up the loudspeaker housing
2 minInsert a flat opening tool underneath the loudspeaker assembly and gently lift it out of the frame.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minUse the edge of a spudger to detach the wide ribbon cable from the charging port sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cable
1 minUse fine tweezers to carefully unclip the round antenna cable connector from the sub-board.

Pry out the old charging port board
2 minWedge a plastic opening tool under the charging port board and lift it away from the chassis.

Position the new charging port board
2 minAlign the replacement sub-board into its slot at the bottom of the frame and press down gently until seated.

Reconnect the antenna coaxial cable
1 minCarefully snap the antenna cable head onto the matching connector on the new sub-board using tweezers.

Reconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minPress the wide flex ribbon connector straight down onto the new board until it clicks into place.

Position the loudspeaker housing
2 minLower the plastic loudspeaker assembly back over the new charging port sub-board.

Fasten the loudspeaker housing screws
2 minReinstall and tighten all the Phillips screws securing the loudspeaker module.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable
1 minHold the back cover close to the frame and press the fingerprint sensor ribbon connector back onto the motherboard.

Secure the fingerprint bracket
1 minPlace the metal bracket back over the connector and tighten its Phillips screw.

Apply new back cover adhesive
3 minLay fresh double-sided adhesive strips along the perimeter edges of the phone frame.

Press the back cover into place
2 minAlign the rear glass cover precisely onto the phone body and apply firm pressure around the edges to seal it.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush.
