   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button on the right edge of the Moto G7 Power. Tap Power Off on the screen and wait for the device to shut down completely.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop the SIM and microSD card tray out, then remove it.

   Heat the rear cover

   Use a heat gun or iOpener to warm the perimeter of the back cover for about two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the cover to the frame.

   Attach a suction handle

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover. Press down firmly to create a seal against the glass.

   Create a gap

   Pull up on the suction handle to create a small gap between the rear cover and the frame. Insert an opening pick into the seam.

   Slice the bottom adhesive

   Slide the opening pick slowly along the bottom edge of the phone to cut through the adhesive. Leave the pick in place to prevent the adhesive from re-sealing.

   Slice the side adhesive

   Insert a second opening pick and slide it up the right edge toward the top corner. Repeat along the left edge, taking care not to insert the pick too deep near the middle where flex cables reside.

   Slice the top adhesive

   Guide an opening pick across the top edge of the phone to slice the remaining glue.

   Pry open the rear cover

   Gently lift the right edge of the rear cover and swing it open like a book to the left. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint sensor flex cable is still attached.

    Unseat the fingerprint sensor bracket

    Use tweezers to lift the small metal bracket covering the fingerprint sensor connector on the motherboard.

    Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

    Pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

    Remove the rear cover

    Lift the rear cover away from the chassis and place it in a safe area.

    Remove the upper frame screws

    Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic motherboard shield.

    Remove the upper motherboard shield

    Insert the flat end of a spudger beneath the motherboard cover and lift it up to release the plastic clips holding it to the frame.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the press connector of the battery flex cable straight up off the motherboard to cut power to the device.

    Disconnect the interconnect flex cable

    Pry up the main board-to-daughterboard flex cable connector that runs over the battery.

    Disconnect the display flex cable

    Use the edge of a spudger to disconnect the display press connector located near the battery compartment.

    Unseat the adhesive pull-tabs

    Locate the black adhesive pull-tabs at the bottom edge of the battery pouch and peel them back from the battery with tweezers.

    Pull the adhesive strips

    Slowly pull one stretch-release adhesive strip out at a flat, low angle until it slides completely out from under the battery. Repeat for the second strip.

    Remove the battery

    Lift the old battery out of the frame. If stuck, apply a few drops of isopropyl alcohol around the edges and wait two minutes before gently lifting with a plastic spudger.

    Clean the battery well

    Wipe down the battery recess in the midframe using a lint-free cloth dampened with high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to remove old adhesive residual.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Peel the backing off new pre-cut battery adhesive strips and stick them flat into the battery compartment.

    Install the replacement battery

    Lower the new battery into the well and press down firmly on the cell body to adhere it to the frame.

    Reconnect the flex cables

    Snap the display connector, main interconnect connector, and battery connector back onto their respective motherboard sockets.

    Reattach the motherboard shield

    Place the upper motherboard shield back into position and reinstall all Phillips screws securely.

    Connect the fingerprint cable

    Plug the fingerprint sensor press connector into the motherboard and snap its metal securing bracket back over the socket.

    Seal the rear cover

    Apply new back cover adhesive tape around the perimeter of the frame, align the rear cover, and press firmly along all edges to seal.
