Step-by-step

Heat the back glass
2 minApply a heat gun to the outer edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge and insert an opening pick to slice through the adhesive around the perimeter.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the back cover and use a spudger to detach the fingerprint reader flex cable from the motherboard.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift and set the back cover aside completely once the fingerprint ribbon cable is freed.

Unscrew the top midframe
3 minRemove the fifteen Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic top midframe to the main housing.

Pry off the top midframe
2 minInsert a spudger under the lip of the top midframe and gently pop it out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press-connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Unlock the power button ZIF connector
2 minUse fine tweezers to flip up the small locking lever on the power and volume button ZIF socket.

Remove the power button flex assembly
3 minSlide a flat opening pick or tweezers underneath the button ribbon cable to carefully peel it off the interior frame.

Install the new power button flex
2 minAlign the replacement power button ribbon inside the frame channel and press it down to adhere.

Secure the button ribbon connector
2 minSlide the flex cable into the motherboard ZIF socket and press the locking lever down to lock it.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign and press the battery connector straight down into its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall the top midframe
3 minPosition the top midframe cover back over the motherboard and tighten the fifteen Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect the fingerprint cable
2 minHold the back cover close to the chassis and snap the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto the motherboard.

Reseal the back cover
3 minApply pre-cut adhesive along the perimeter and press the rear glass firmly back onto the chassis.
