Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button until the menu options appear on screen. Select Power Off and wait until the device shuts down completely.

Eject the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM ejection tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push inward firmly to release the tray, then remove it.

Heat the Back Cover
3 minApply heat around the outer edges of the back panel for two to three minutes using a heat gun. This softens the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear panel, near the bottom edge. Press down to create a tight vacuum seal.

Slice Rear Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a tiny gap, then slide an opening pick into the seam. Work the pick around all four edges to slice through the glue.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minLift the rear panel away from the frame once the adhesive is fully separated. Set the back panel aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew Lower Speaker Module
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the bottom speaker housing to the lower frame.

Pry Out Speaker Housing
2 minInsert the flat tip of a spudger beneath the edge of the speaker module. Lever it upward to release the plastic clips and remove it.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minUse a spudger to gently lever the bottom main interconnect flex connector straight up from the daughterboard socket.

Disconnect Antenna Coaxial Cable
2 minGrasp the antenna head with fine tweezers and pry it straight up to disconnect it from the daughterboard.

Remove the Defective Daughterboard
2 minWedge a plastic opening tool under the bottom daughterboard containing the microphone module. Pry gently to free it from the lower housing.

Install the New Microphone Board
2 minAlign the new daughterboard with its recessed slot in the lower chassis. Press firmly until it snaps flush into position.
