Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select power off to turn off your phone completely.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray and push gently to pop it out.

Heat the back cover edges
3 minApply a heat gun or iOpener around the rear perimeter for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPress a suction cup onto the lower portion of the back cover and pull upward to create a slight gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the gap between the rear glass and the frame.

Slice through perimeter adhesive
4 minMove the pick carefully along all edges to cut through the back cover glue.

Lift the rear cover
2 minGently swing the back cover open from the side, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry up the fingerprint ribbon cable connector from the motherboard.

Remove bottom speaker screws
3 minUnscrew the Phillips #00 screws securing the lower loudspeaker assembly module.

Pry out the faulty speaker
2 minWedge a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker module and lift it out of the frame.

Insert the new loudspeaker module
2 minAlign the replacement speaker into the lower cavity and press down until it sits flush.

Secure the speaker screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to fix the loudspeaker housing in place.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minPress the fingerprint flex cable connector straight down onto its socket until it clicks.

Apply back panel adhesive
4 minClean remaining glue with isopropyl alcohol and attach fresh precut adhesive strips to the frame.

Reattach the rear panel
2 minPress the back panel firmly onto the chassis along all edges to ensure a tight seal.
