Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select power off to completely shut down the phone.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the tray hole near the top left corner and press firmly to release the tray.

Heat the rear panel
3 minUse a heat gun or heating pad along the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower area of the back cover and gently pull upward to create a thin gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created between the frame and back cover.

Slice the back cover adhesive
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the perimeter glue.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear panel off the body and place it carefully to the side.

Unscrew the upper housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic motherboard protective cover.

Detach the motherboard cover
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the edge of the motherboard cover and pop it off the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the interconnect cable
2 minUnplug the display and main flexible ribbon cables that run across the face of the battery.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minDrip a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and bottom edges of the battery.

Pry up the battery
3 minInsert a plastic pry card under the battery and slowly lever it upward until the adhesive releases.

Remove the old battery
1 minLift the loosened battery out of the frame recess.

Clean the battery compartment
2 minWipe away residual glue from the frame using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply replacement adhesive
2 minPosition and stick down new double-sided adhesive strips into the battery compartment.

Install the new battery
2 minPlace the replacement battery into the housing and press firmly across its surface to secure it.

Reconnect the cables
2 minPress the interconnect cables and battery flex connector down into their motherboard sockets until they click.
