Step-by-step
- 1
Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off. Ensure the device is fully powered down before starting.

Heat the back cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer along the outer edges of the rear glass panel for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear glass and pull upward gently to form a small gap.

Slice the back cover adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slide it along the perimeter to separate the rear glass adhesive.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minPivot the rear glass open from the right side and use a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable off the motherboard.

Unscrew the internal shield
4 minRemove the 16 Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe shield to the body of the device.

Pry off the plastic midframe
3 minInsert the flat edge of a spudger beneath the midframe border and unhook the plastic clips around the frame.

Disconnect the battery flex
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Unplug the power button cable
2 minDisconnect the power and volume button flex cable from its connector on the side of the motherboard.

Peel out the power button flex
3 minUse fine-tip tweezers to gently peel the old power button flex assembly away from the inside sidewall.

Position the new power button flex
2 minAlign the replacement power button flex with the side recess and press it down to adhere it to the frame.

Plug in the power button flex
1 minAlign the power button flex connector with the motherboard socket and press down firmly until it clicks.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minPress the battery connector directly down into its socket on the motherboard.

Reinstall the midframe frame
4 minSnap the plastic midframe back onto the phone frame and secure it using the 16 Phillips #00 screws.

Attach fingerprint sensor and rear panel
3 minReconnect the fingerprint reader cable, apply new adhesive strips, and press the rear glass firmly back into place.
