Step-by-step

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover and pull upward gently to create a slight gap.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap and slide it along the phone's border to separate the rear cover.

Pry open the back panel
2 minLift the rear cover slowly like a book, taking care not to pull on the attached fingerprint sensor flex cable.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minUse a spudger to pop the fingerprint sensor ribbon connector directly up off the motherboard.

Remove motherboard bracket screws
3 minUnscrew the Phillips #000 screws securing the plastic motherboard frame to the device body.

Remove the plastic motherboard cover
1 minInsert the flat tip of a spudger beneath the top plastic shield and lift it off the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket to disconnect all power.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minUse the spudger to unseat the display press connector from the upper logic board.

Disconnect the interconnect ribbon
1 minDetach the flex cable that connects the motherboard to the bottom charging board.

Unplug the coaxial antenna cable
2 minGently pry up the head of the white antenna cable from the side of the logic board using tweezers.

Remove the logic board securing screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #000 screw holding the bottom corner of the logic board to the frame.

Lift out the old logic board
2 minLever a spudger underneath the edge of the logic board and lift it out of the chassis.

Transfer camera modules
3 minDisconnect the front and rear cameras from the old logic board and press them onto the replacement board.

Seat the new logic board
2 minAlign the replacement logic board in the chassis and press it down gently until it sits flat.
