Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the hole on the side frame. Push firmly to pop the card tray out and remove it.

Heat the Display Edges
2 minApply heat around the perimeter of the screen using a heat gun on low setting for approximately two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the screen above the home button. Pull up gently to create a small gap between the glass and frame.

Slice the Perimeter Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and slowly slide it along the edges of the display to cut through the screen adhesive.

Open the Screen Assembly
2 minGently lift the top edge of the display like a book cover. Do not pull it away completely yet, as short display cables are still attached.

Unscrew the Connector Bracket
2 minLocate the metal shield over the display connector and remove the Phillips #000 screw holding it in place using tweezers.

Disconnect the Display Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the display connector straight up from the motherboard socket.

Unscrew the Midframe Shield
4 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the internal plastic midframe and protective cover to the phone chassis.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minPry the battery press-connector off the motherboard immediately using a plastic spudger to stop electrical current flow.

Remove the Motherboard
3 minUnclip the remaining flex cables and carefully pry the main logic board out from the phone body.

Clean Corroded Areas
6 minDip a soft brush in 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub away liquid residue and corrosion from both sides of the motherboard.

Dry Board with Compressed Air
2 minBlow short bursts of compressed air over the motherboard and under metal shields to clear away remaining alcohol and debris.

Reinstall the Motherboard
5 minSeat the thoroughly dried motherboard back into the housing and press all press-connectors securely into their sockets.
