Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole beside the tray on the side of the phone. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it completely free.

Heat the Screen Edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer to gently heat the front glass edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive beneath the screen.

Apply a Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the display screen, just above the home button.

Insert a Plastic Pick
2 minPull up gently on the suction cup ring to create a slight gap, then slide a plastic opening pick beneath the glass frame edge.

Slice through the Screen Adhesive
4 minSlide the opening pick around all four sides of the display perimeter to cut through the adhesive seal. Do not insert the pick deeper than 3 mm.

Lift open the Display Assembly
2 minGently swing the top edge of the display open like a book cover from the right side, taking care not to pull on the flex cables.

Remove the Display Bracket Screw
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal display cable bracket. Lift the bracket off with tweezers.

Disconnect the Display Cable
1 minPry the display ribbon connector straight up from its motherboard socket using the flat edge of a spudger tool.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minPry up the battery flex connector with a spudger to completely isolate power from the motherboard.

Unscrew the Lower Midframe
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws holding the lower midframe and speaker housing assembly in place.

Pry Out the Speaker Assembly
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the speaker module and lift it out from its cavity in the bottom frame.

Set the New Speaker Module
2 minAlign the replacement speaker module with the contact pins in the frame recess and press down firmly to set it in place.

Reattach the Lower Midframe
3 minPosition the midframe cover over the lower assembly and reinstall all retained Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect the Battery and Display Cables
2 minAlign the battery and display ribbon cable press connectors over their sockets and press down until they click securely.

Reinstall the Display Bracket
2 minPlace the metal display cable bracket over the connector and tighten the single Phillips #00 screw.

Reseal and Press the Display
4 minApply pre-cut adhesive strips along the perimeter frame, align the display carefully, and press firmly around all edges to seal.
After your Motorola G5S speaker repair
