Step-by-step

Power Off Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen.

Remove SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the tray on the left side of the phone and pull the tray out.

Heat Front Display
2 minApply heat to the edges of the front screen glass using a heat gun for 2 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the top edge of the screen and press down firmly to create a seal.

Insert Opening Pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert a plastic pick under the glass.

Slice Adhesive Perimeter
3 minCarefully slide the opening pick around all four edges to slice through the adhesive seal.

Open Screen Assembly
1 minGently swing the display open from the right edge, taking care not to strain the flex cable attached near the top left.

Unscrew Connector Shield
2 minRemove the two Phillips #00 screws holding the metal bracket over the display flex connector.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minUse a nylon spudger to snap the display flex cable connector straight up off the motherboard.

Remove Midframe Screws
3 minUnthread the Phillips #00 screws securing the internal midframe and loudspeaker housing to the phone frame.

Pry Up Lower Midframe
2 minInsert the tip of a spudger under the bottom section of the midframe and lift it away from the body.

Detach Loudspeaker Module
2 minUse tweezers to pry the loudspeaker block up and out from its slot at the bottom of the phone frame.

Install Replacement Speaker
2 minPress the new loudspeaker module into the bottom cutout until it sits flat against the contact pads.

Reattach Midframe
2 minAlign the internal midframe over the motherboard and lower speaker assembly, pressing down gently until seated.

Secure Midframe Screws
3 minReinstall all the Phillips #00 screws around the perimeter to fasten the midframe into place.

Reconnect Screen Cable
2 minAlign the display flex connector over its socket, press firmly to snap it in, and reinstall the metal bracket with its screws.

Apply Screen Adhesive
3 minApply new pre-cut adhesive strips around the rim of the metal chassis frame.

Reseal Display Panel
2 minLower the glass display panel into alignment with the frame and press around the perimeter firmly to seal it.
