Step-by-step

Eject SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop out the SIM and microSD card tray.

Apply Heat to Screen Edges
3 minUse a heat gun or iOpener around all four edges of the display for 2-3 minutes to soften the screen adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup onto the lower third of the glass display near the home button.

Slice Display Adhesive
5 minPull up gently on the suction cup to create a small gap, then insert an opening pick beneath the glass. Slide the pick around the perimeter to cut the glue.

Lift Display Panel
2 minGently swing the bottom edge of the display open like a book, pivoting from the top edge.

Remove Display Connector Bracket
2 minUnscrew the two Phillips #00 screws holding the metal shield over the display cable connector.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the display press connector straight up from the motherboard.

Remove Midframe Screws
3 minUnscrew all Phillips #00 screws securing the black plastic midframe cover to the phone chassis.

Detach Midframe Cover
2 minInsert a spudger along the side edges of the internal midframe and pop it off the phone housing.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minPry up the battery flex cable connector from the motherboard to safely cut off power.

Disconnect Interconnect Cable
1 minUse tweezers or a spudger to pop off the lower interconnect cable from the daughterboard at the bottom of the device.

Remove Daughterboard Screws
2 minRemove the Phillips screws securing the bottom daughterboard and microphone assembly.

Pry Up Microphone Daughterboard
2 minGently pry up the bottom daughterboard housing the primary microphone and remove it from the casing.

Install Replacement Daughterboard
2 minAlign the new daughterboard containing the replacement microphone into the lower frame and press down firmly.

Reattach Display and Test
5 minReconnect the battery and display temporarily to test microphone functionality using the Voice Recorder app before final sealing.

Apply New Screen Adhesive
4 minClean off remaining old adhesive with isopropyl alcohol, place new pre-cut adhesive strips onto the rim, and press the display glass firmly shut.
