Step-by-step

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray on the left edge of the device. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it completely.

Heat the Display Edges
3 minApply heat to the front glass edges using a heat gun or hair dryer for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the perimeter screen adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
2 minPlace a suction cup onto the lower portion of the screen display glass near the home button. Pull up firmly on the ring to create a slight gap between the glass and metal body.

Slice Display Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap near the bottom edge. Gently slide the pick around all perimeter edges to cut through the display adhesive.

Pivot the Display Assembly
2 minCarefully lift the display from the bottom edge and hinge it upward toward the top of the phone. Do not pull the screen away entirely, as short flex cables are still connected.

Unscrew Display Cable Bracket
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal shield over the display flex cable.

Disconnect Display Flex Cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the display cable connector straight up from the logic board. Lift the screen away and place it in a safe location.

Remove Midframe Screws
4 minRemove the 15 Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic midframe shield to the body of the phone.

Detach Midframe Panel
2 minGently insert a spudger under the outer edge of the midframe panel and pry upward to release its plastic retention clips. Lift the panel clear of the phone chassis.

Disconnect Battery Cable
1 minLocate the battery press connector on the motherboard and use a plastic spudger to disconnect it. Cutting power immediately prevents electrical damage to internal components.

Disconnect Camera Modules
3 minUse the flat end of a spudger to disconnect both the front camera and dual rear camera flex connectors. Carefully lift the camera modules out of their housing slots using tweezers.

Disconnect Antenna and Sub-Board Cables
2 minPry up the lower interconnect flex cable connector and the antenna coaxial cable from the bottom section of the logic board. Carefully unclip the antenna wire from its routing channel.

Unscrew Logic Board
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 mounting screw holding the upper section of the logic board to the aluminum chassis.
