Step-by-step

Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely turn off your Moto G5S Plus.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole on the left edge and remove the SIM tray.

Heat front glass perimeter
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the display edges for two minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach suction cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the display glass, just above the home button.

Insert opening pick
2 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and slide a plastic opening pick under the display edge.

Slice screen adhesive
4 minCarefully slide the pick around all four edges of the screen to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Open display assembly
2 minGently hinge the display open from the left edge like a book, taking care not to pull on the flex cables.

Unscrew display bracket
2 minRemove the single Phillips #000 screw securing the metal display cable shield.

Disconnect display cable

2 minPry up carefully beneath the charging port board using a spudger and lift it out of the frame.

Secure charging port board
2 minReinstall the Phillips #000 screws to anchor the new board securely to the frame.

Reconnect antenna cable
2 minSnap the coaxial antenna cable connector directly back onto its socket on the new board.

Reconnect battery flex cable
1 minAlign and press down the battery flex connector onto its motherboard socket until it clicks.

Reinstall plastic midframe
5 minAlign the midframe over the body, snap the outer clips down, and drive in all nineteen screws.

Connect screen flex cable

4 minClean remaining glue residues with isopropyl alcohol and install pre-cut display adhesive strips on the housing rim.
