Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Shut Down to ensure the phone is powered off before starting.

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the left side of the frame and pull the tray out.

Heat the rear cover
2 minApply a heat gun or hot air blower along the edges of the plastic back panel for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear panel and gently pull up to create a small gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minPush a thin plastic opening pick into the seam created between the back panel and the frame.

Slice the perimeter adhesive
4 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the back cover to cut through the factory adhesive tape.

Lift off the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the rear panel off the frame and clear away any loose adhesive residue.

Unscrew the midframe
5 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 16 screws securing the inner protective midframe.

Unclip the midframe
3 minInsert a plastic spudger under the edge of the midframe and pry gently to release the plastic clips around the border.

Disconnect the battery flex
1 minUse the flat edge of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the Phillips screws securing the lower speaker assembly to the bottom housing.

Pry out the old speaker
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool underneath the loudspeaker module and lift it out of its recess.

Insert the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the replacement loudspeaker module with the bottom cavity and press down until it sits flush.

Secure the speaker screws
2 minReinstall the screws into the loudspeaker module to hold it firmly against the frame contacts.

Reconnect the battery flex
1 minAlign the battery connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down until it clicks into place.

Clip the midframe back
2 minPosition the midframe over the phone and press down firm around the edges until all clips snap shut.

Fasten all frame screws
4 minDrive the 16 Phillips #00 screws back into the midframe until snug.

Seal the back cover
3 minApply fresh double-sided adhesive strips along the edge of the frame and press the back panel securely into place.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot until flush with the outer frame.
